About 2GetWebTarffic.com
I created my first website about 4 years ago after attending a seminar put on by a web hosting company based out of the USA. I used every cent I had to start my online business and bought everything I was told I needed to be successful online with a total of $29,000 out of pocket, I had to make this work and I have. It really doesn't need to cost you this much.
I have purchased Marketing training both via the internet and classroom training. I have purchased ebooks after ebooks believing they would help me and I have tried a quite a few over the years. Eveyone seems to be selling information and I have bought allot, so I started this website to share all the information I have learned over the years in a way to get back at all the crappy ebooks and training I took. Each ebook or training seminar I took was about 80% junk and 20% good information and as I stated before that allot of 20%s to be sharing.
I'm not claiming to be and expert because I am not, but I do have allot of information that can help anyone who wants to learn on the fast track to getting traffic to their website without spending a fortune doing it.
We are a free resource for beginners who are just trying to learn about online marketing and not eveything on this website are lessons from me personally but from other with more experiance then myself that have agreed to help me help others.
You can learn allot from 2GetWebTraffic.com for a whole lot less then I paid for the information. I really wish there was a person willing to help others when I started out it would have save me allot of time and money.
My Story
Starting My Own Online
Business Was Brutal - Learn From My Mistakes!
Laid Off, Out Of Work,
Nice Severance, No Direction! LOL That's about it...
First of all I'm not selling anything...This is FREE Information! REALLY
FREE! I'll explain what I mean by Really FREE later.
I want to share some things I learned the HARD way about starting my
online business. I may develop an e-book later on in life but not right
now.
Right now I just want to try to save other people some time an money if
you are starting an online business and vent a bit about the garbage I
had to swallow these past two years starting my business online.
Everything I will discuss are actual facts about starting an online
business that happened to me personally and how I got sucked in time and
time again but also the things I learned along the way that I wish I
knew when I started my website business.
Oh Yeah let's not forget to keep track of the money I spent while were
at it. So you will know what NOT to do.
Let's Start at $0
The Vulchers Set In!
Getting started First of all, when I got laid off I had some ideas
about starting my own business but was not too sure what to do, so I
just took a little time off.
I did start a "BIG waste of time" online business many years ago when I
heard about all the "Dot Com" millionaires out there. I advertised I was
looking to start an online small business and the vulchers set in.
It was a flop, I was selling e-books, a package of 1500 Ebooks to be
exact, that I bought for $65 with resell rights from an Australian Guy
Selling Online Information packages, he's still out there by the way.
Nothing too shifty from this guy really, the Ebooks did help me build my
first site from scratch, the only thing was I didn't sell any, not one,
Why? First the Ebooks were a dime dozen and FREE anywhere you look
online. My Problem was...I didn't look before I bought them. Second I
had No traffic to my site as I didn't even know what that meant and
third I couldn't covert them into sales even if I did get them.
After a short rest period, I did get back on the horse and I decided to
start another online business BUT this time I had my severance money to
do it right.
I started the search for help and next thing you know " More Vultures"
were trying to sell me everything. I looked at a few different online
packages and learned about dropshipping, boy did I learn.
Really quick..for those that don't know what dropshipping is, this is
where you sell the product on you website and the manufacturer ships it
for you directly from their location. You'd be surprised how many people
still don't know.
With most of the dropshipping sites you can sign up for packages or
programs. They sell for around $200 - $800 or more depending on your
goals and in some cases they still turn around and charge you a monthly
fee. So if you sell an electric drill (These are just rough $ amounts)
for $89 on ebay, the customer then pays you for it and you pay the
dropshipping company about $79 and they ship it to your customers. So...
you make a $20 profit but wait...you have to pay the pay pal fees and
ebay fees, now you are left with about $11 and you have to recoup your
sign up fees and monthly payments. That's allot of sales risk. Also you
have an online business now and you have to claim that profit as an
income and pay tax on it. You should be out of the hole in about 7 - 10
years at that rate. No Thanks, not for me.
I kept getting calls left a right from these guys to invest my severance
and they will make me rich...ha ha ha ha. Yeah OK. It may be working
for some folks and that's great all the power to them, I want to make
some REAL cash.
There are some good dropshippers out there (Dropship Direct, Green
Supply) but to find a real list of pre qualified dropshippers you'll
probably have to pay like I did.
A really good "Pay List" is Onesource. Yes you pay but everything you
need is there like a market research tool, ebay demand tool, and
companies that agree to dropship.
Cost is now at $225USD
My First Big Lesson With My Online
Business
Watch Out For The Awsome
Deals...They Are Probably Too Good To Be True! Ebays Hot List is a good
tool to do market research and I found that there was a huge demand for
Apple I Phones at that time and they were selling like hot cakes. I
looked around the internet and didn't see too many sites selling them
and the ones that did were were VERY expensive, around $900 at this
time. Looks like a good Niche.
Next was to find a wholesaler or dropshipper. I Found a few websites of
wholesalers right away, WOW this is easy! Yeah right... be VERY careful
this was my first BIG $ HIT.
Alibaba & Trade Key are the two wholesale sights I signed up to. I'm
sure there are legit manufactures here but I found all the bad ones.
What a SUCKER!
You can post a buying leads there to tell everyone what you are looking
to buy and I did...I'm looking to buy Apple I phones. Literally got
hundreds of responses the next day. These manufacturers are mainly in
China but I didn't care they said they would dropship for free and the
shipping was only $35 anywhere in the world.
I asked all the right questions about price, Min Order Qty, Ship times
etc. Finally I settled on two separate companies. The first one sold
just Iphones for $250 each and the other sold them for $260 but they
also sold Ipods and Ipod Videos etc. What a deal...you gotta know where
I'm going with this???
I immediately went to ebay and posted just one for $600 with Free
shipping to test the water, it sold within 1:30 minutes of going live.
Great! I spoke to the dropshipper (Her name was Cindy Chen) and she
requested I send a $250 Western Union.
I never used Wester Union before but after checking I found out that
this was the main way to buy stuff from China, good enough for me. See
more about Western Union and Money Gram later on in this article (Big NO
NO).
Well this first transaction went well I thought so I posted 3 more
Iphones on ebay, they sold right away like the first one did, well this
is just too easy I thought. Went to bed that night bragging about how
much money I made to my wife, this dropshipping thing is a breeze.
Next day I put 5 more Iphones on ebay this time I charged $680 being the
smart business man I am with my new online business, again all 5 sold
in under 2 min. OK Something is going on here I thought, so I emailed a
buyer and asked if he had been looking long for the Apple Iphone long
before he bought mine. He told me the Iphones cannot be found this cheap
anywhere on the planet then he asked if these were REAL Apple Iphones,
What does that mean??? After assuring him they were I went to my
manufacturer on Trade Key and asked the same questions. Of course they
are...phew was I relieved.
I repeated the process until I sold over $2750USD (My cost) Not to
mention the ebay fees and Western Union fees.
Come to find out the hard way...by being told by a VERY upset customer
they were replicas. Replicas? Replicas? Replicas?
In my embarrassment I contacted my customers and refunded all their
money right away even before they got them. Never do that by the way,
because all but one kept them after they said they would send them back
to me, they never ever did even after countless emails.
Always wait for the product to be paid for before you ship it, and
always wait to refund money, until the product arrives back to you if
you can.
Always try to at least see the product first before you dropship, make
the first order your own or family member then you can evaluate not only
the product but the service and ship time.
When dealing with China tell them you use want to use Pay Pal because
the Buyer protection plan covers goods that are shipped so you cannot be
suckered like me. If they say they don't accept Pay Pal, MOVE ON.
Another option is to use a third party company in China to go to the
factory and inspect the product and service first.
Be sure to check for scammers or companies with bad reputation before
you deal with them, this can be done through a few websites, here are
some,
http://fraudwatchers.org, http://www.stop-scammers.com,
http://www.419legal.org/fraudulent-websites-alert
Total spent $ 2975 not including Ebay Fees.
Using Western Union and Money Gram
Not a Good online
Business Practice
 I never used Wester Union
or Money Gram before I started my online business and I NEVER will
again..if I can help it.
When I sent money to China for the REPLICA Apple I Phones it was
extremely expensive. To send $660 USD it cost $30 through Western Union
and listen to this, It is NOT covered by any type insurance. All you do
is send the money to a persons name on the other end, as long as they
show up with the proper ID the money is theirs and there is NO WAY of
getting it back.
Money Gram was cheaper ($15) to send $1000 but still too expensive for
uninsured money out of your pocket.
Always use a trusted method of payment that you are protected like Pay
Pal...but be careful, the Pay Pal protection plan only covers tangible
items and not services or e-books etc wish I had of known that too!
My total spent so far $3075 and NOTHING to show for it but experience.
Serious Online
Business Start
Making The Right Choices
Now that I have shaken off
the big hit it was time to get serious strategy online.
Out of all the vulchers I agreed to attended a seminar with my wife from
a company called Storesonline. They offered a free gift and my wife was
riding me so I went to see what it was all about as they were holding a
seminar in our area with FREE Supper too.
The company offers online hosting for you website and professional 24Hr
help and bla bla bla. Sounded very good so I got really interested. Long
story short they sell you a website builder of each hosting account at
$29.95 each month. Now the builder was amazing with all the tricks,
market research tools, instructions, and a cart built in. If you are
serious about an online business they are certainly worth looking into.
They don't pay me to say that either. Oh and their FREE gift sucked. lol
There are cheaper methods of building websites now with hosting at only
7.95 a month and Free things you will need for your business. Wish I had
this when I was starting out. If your interested, I put a link below.
I was serious and so I bought their biggest plan which gives me 6
websites, Chu Ching..very expensive ($12,000 US) yep that right serious
online business money.
You don't have to get all 6 websites at the same time but it cheaper, I
wish I hadn't bought all 6 now as I'm not even using the other five, one
gives you all the tools and training built in, mind you the reporting
and tracking is amazing, but you can get similar information from Google
Analytics and cheaper web hosting as I mentioned above.
Now! I was ready I just had to find a product.
To find an idea for a product or niche you should first I brainstorm
every idea that comes to mind starting with things you like or do or
wear or are you aregood at etc.
You can use Googles Adwords account (you have to sign up FREE) and use
the Key Word tool to find low key word competition and high key word
popularity based on volume of searches to help you get stated.
Also check ebays hot list to see what products are being searched for
the most and sold the most.
As I mentioned before onesource has a built in tool that will tell what
the market demand is for any product you type in. No I don't get paid by
them to say that. lol
Hint: stay away from huge markets like weight loss, hair loss, vitamins,
cell phones, TVs etc. you won't stand a chance, the competition is
killer, trust me.
I used the tool built in to my storesonline website builder to see what
people are looking for each month base on whatever key word I typed in,
example I typed in Poker, the results showed that 12,000,000 people
search that term or key word every month. Google Adwords will give you
similar information. But Poker is also a BIG market so I stayed away
from that one.
Now many marketing companies will explain that it doesn't matter what
you pick for a product or the price it's all about the marketing. Not
true if you pick hunting decoys (like I did) and market them to death,
it still will not work or you won't make enough to shine your shoes
because....
1. My main competitor is rich and can afford to spend more on marketing
then me.
2. Although there were 38,000 people looking for the key word decoys
each month my market is mainly males, non computer users or old school
hunters that don't want to buy off the net.
3. My dropshippers are mainly in the US and will not ship outside the
US, that limits my market base down. Decoys a bad choice all way round.
Be sure to pick a product with at least 150,000 searches per month as a
minimum.
Be sure to pick a product with allot of low competition key words (VERY
Important).
Total spent so far: $ 15,075 and my hosting fee start at $29 a month.
Online Training And
Online Marketing
Build Those Roads To
Your Site And Get That Traffic
 Now you have picked a
product with low competition key words and over 150,000 searches per
month, great!
Next we need to market the website and get some quality traffic coming
in.
It seems funny to me that as soon as you register your domain name and
publish your site all these marketing companies start calling saying
that they have what you need to get traffic coming to you site. Darn
Vulchers!
I chose a company called PMI as they were associated with StoresOnline
whom my websites were with. They told me they would get all six of my
sites up and fully optimized with traffic pouring in. How much I spent
would determine how successful I would be. Well I had a serious online
business website now, I needed some serious online marketing. I chose
their medium package at $ 14,000 USD. I flew out to Utah for the
training and it turns out they are a coaching school only they don't
even touch my sites, they teach, not do. I do have to say the training
was excellent and I owe most of my online business success to them but
it certainly was NOT worth that kind of money. They still teach some old
school stuff too, like Meta tags even though they are need they are not
as important as they used to be.
Be very weary of online marketing companies that call you and give you a
"this offer is only good while I have you on the phone" routine or it's
only good for the next hour or whatever, if they want your business,
and they do, make them wait while you make up your mind.
You can find lots of Free training, yes! FREE, FREE training right here
online at websites like Squidoo, YouTube and many more. Some of the
start a business information is cheesy but most are very good.
Remember not to fall for marketing pressure tactics.
Know what your buying by asking for the information up front so you can
review it.
Build links to your site as much as possible but don't link swap unless
the site complements yours otherwise it can hurt your site.
Use social book marking there are hundreds of site out there and book
mark your site in them. Start here http://www.socialmarking.com most are
all FREE, FREE sign ups.
Build a blog and post good quality content, Not Duplicate as that will
hurt your site. Be sure your using those low completion key words like
we spoke about. Free Blogs you can start here :
http://mashable.com/2007/08/06/free-blog-hosts/
Total is up to $29,075USD
I Hope This Helps You
Save Money With Your Online Business Start Up!
Don't Throw Your $ Away
Like Me I gave a really short
summary version of the BIG steps you can use to save money if your
starting a business online. Just Look around the net there lots of
information out there so what if most are just promoting their own sites
the info is still good and most times FREE, FREE.
There are many thing we didn't talk about like,
1.Making some quick $$ Money $$ to get you started.
2.Setting up a contract with a supplier
3.Free Wholesale directories listing
4.Free Dropship directories
5.Free Live & Paid directories
6.Free website (Build your own) the good and the bad
7.Google Adsense
8.Pay Per Click - Not big fan
9. Hosting more then one site on the same account
10.Website Optimization
Many More...Maybe Next Time.
Well the Total amount I had invested in my online business was $29075
USD. I now make around $8000 a month from my main site or trust me I'd
still be crying. You can check them out if you'd like,
www.keepmyhair.ca - Doing GREAT ($8000/month)
www.mydecoys.com - The Dead Duck as I mentioned...lol
www.yourdetoxstore.com - Doing OK ($2500/month)
I did not have to spend this kind of money to start an online business. I
could have done it for 1/4 of that if I knew what I was doing and now I
know more then I did back then but I still have lots to learn.
An online business does take allot of time to set up properly but it's a
nice style of business compared to my office job that I hated,
actually...shoveling coal would have been better. lol
I have lots of stories to go along with each items listed above but I
don't want to bore you too badly. |
