• You need to determine what specifically you want to offer people. This is called drilling down. You can start by making a list of everything you like, everything your good at, any hobbies or anything of interest to you. Be specific! Example: if you like playing guitar then what type of music do you like, if you like more than one type, pick one of those. Let's say you pick country music. Next what type of country music, classic, new, bluegrass? Let's say you pick classic country. Now you might start a website about a classic country music stars or teach people how to play classic country music. 

How well your site ranks in search engines and how much web traffic you get will depend on a few factors starting with how specific you are in your niche. What specifically are people looking for? Another quick example, if you want to sell running shoes you will want to create your site about a specific running shoe. You could call your website www.nikerunningshoes.com but this is still a bit too generic so you may want to call it www.niketrainingshoes.com or be even more specific like www.nikeairpegasus.com.

 

Once you have a your main list of things you like etc. you need to create a list of specific keywords related to your niche. Using the country music example above, you will create a key word list like this, learn classic country music, play classic country music, how to play classic country music etc. You get the idea? You making a list of key words that you think people would use to find you based on your specific niche.

 

• Ok so now we have some great key words, you found either a dropshipper or affiliate network with products related to your key words it's time to select a domain name. Factors to consider are your market and search volumes. You need to decide if you targeting world wide or just your country as this will determine if you select a .com, .ca, .uk etc. It's always best to select a .com domain name but if your really trying to get business from just your own country then select a .ca or whatever your options are for your country.
  

Why this is important is because it will determine where you will rank in the search engines. For example if your key words are "liver pills" and you live in Canada and you want to target Canadians then you should make your domain name www.liverpillscanada.ca.Doing this will skyrocket you to the top of the search engines and if your keywords "Liver Pills" has a search volume of 12,000 people a month can you imagine the traffic you will get and the sales you will make. This is one of the most important aspects of building a website that will make you money.

There may be some drawback to this working the way you want it to if the following conditions exist:

 

1. Your key word is already being used as domain name for another site already. This is why being specific can help.
   
2. The search volume is not high or there is heavy competition, which is why I stressed earlier the importance of selecting specific key words with high search volume and low competition.
3. Your drop shipper or affiliate program will not ship to your country. Of course you may get lots of website traffic but you won't be able to make any sales.
